Why did you choose the Univ. of Chicago for your residency training?  The night before my interview I had a great time with the residents! On interview day, I was impressed with the attendings who interviewed me - everyone I met that day seemed genuinely happy and incredibly welcoming and approachable. There was also a distinct emphasis on resident education, and I knew that with the breadth of pathology in the Chicagoland area that I would get exceptional training at U of C.

Why did you choose Anesthesiology?  I am a pediatrician-turned-anesthesiologist by way of the pediatric ICU. I loved the idea of being the sole caretaker of critically ill patients, and watching their pathophysiology change before my eyes based on the decisions and interventions I make. Like the ICU, the OR is a hotbed of pathophysiology, and I love the minute-to-minute changes that makes the hands on work of being an anesthesiologist so satisfying - no waiting on an order to go through in order to affect positive change for the patient!

Best thing about the Univ. of Chicago?  The people! And of course, getting to train in at a beautiful, world class institution in one of the best cities in the country.
