Why did you choose the Univ. of Chicago for your residency training?
It was evident to me that the Anesthesia Department (and residency program) at the U of C has a long and rich history of training excellent peri-operativeanesthesiologists. The department is highly respected at both the institutional level and beyond, and clearly places a high value on resident education. Residents get to train along side world-class faculty who are devoted to providing safe, quality patient care while allowing residents to acquire the skills they will need to practice independently upon graduation. The city of Chicago is also a fantastic place to live.
Where do you live in Chicago (area of he city) and if you like that area, why?
Streeterville. I'm convinced (with an obvious bias) that this neighborhood offers the best of all worlds.. Easy access to Lake Shore Drive for super easy commute to work, walking distance to lake front parks, trails, and beaches, walking distance to all the restaurants and night life in River North. Unfortunately parking and rent is on the expensive side.
